What I’m looking forward to in 2025

It’s hard to believe, isn’t it?  Another year has passed, and with it, new dreams start blooming.  When I think about what’s to come in 2025, my heart flutters with excitement for the adventures ahead.  Weddings to photograph, new projects to pursue, personal growth to tackle — every corner of my life feels like it has room for something beautiful to unfold.

Whether you’re a bride-to-be, engaged and searching for the right wedding photographer, or just someone curious about the life of a creative professional, I hope you’ll enjoy this little window into what’s lighting my heart on fire for the year ahead.

Professional growth and wedding magic

2025 feels like it’s promising to be a year of growth, creativity, and connection — especially when it comes to weddings!

More weddings, more love

I’ve found myself missing the rhythm of wedding seasons past — the flutter of excitement as I prepare for a wedding every other weekend, the smiles, the heartfelt vows, the dance-filled evenings.  That’s why I’m excited to take on more weddings in 2025.  I want to have more moments to look forward to, more stories to capture, and more couples to connect with.

Launching my mentorship program

One of the most unexpected joys of my work has been teaching.  Over the years, I’ve mentored up-and-coming wedding photographers whenever they’ve joined me as second shooters.  While this informal teaching has been fulfilling, I’m thrilled to step into the next chapter and launch a formal mentorship program.  The thought of empowering new photographers, refining their talent, and witnessing their growth fills my chest with a kind of pride that’s hard to put into words.

New creative projects

I also have some blog series ideas in the works — think planning guides and behind-the-scenes looks at wedding photography.  My engagement session planning series was so much fun to create, and I couldn’t be happier with how it connected with readers.  More is on the way in 2025, and I hope you’ll stick around to see it!

Life-long learning and personal passion projects

While photography is my heart and soul, there’s always room to explore new horizons and rediscover old hobbies too.

Investing in my own growth

Learning never stops, even for teachers.  While I’ll be mentoring others this year, I’m planning to find a new photography mentor of my own.  Seeking new perspectives, refining techniques, and challenging myself is one of the ways I stay inspired.  And honestly?  It’s a wonderful feeling to be a student again — always pushing forward, always staying curious.

(Finally) finishing my cross-stitch projects

Okay, confession time — if you’ve been following me long enough, you know this goal makes it onto my to-do list every single year.  But this time?  I’m committed.  2025 will be the year I finish two cross-stitch projects.  These tiny, colorful creations bring me so much peace, and I know once I finish them, the sense of accomplishment will be totally worth it.

Deepening connections with clients and community

The connection I share with my clients is the foundation of everything I do.  Weddings are about people, and my job is to capture their real, most authentic selves in every frame.

Refining the client experience

I’ve already been working on tweaks to refine my entire client process, and in 2025 I want to take it a step further.  A process that’s smooth and joyful for my couples — while also working sustainably for me — is so important.  It allows me to stay present, creative, and in the moment with each couple.  Your wedding day should feel effortless, and I want the behind-the-scenes to reflect that same ease.

Fostering a community of love

My goal is to make sure every client feels cared for — not just as a customer, but as a person whose story matters.  Beyond that, bringing people together to celebrate love, joy, and authenticity is a passion of mine.  Look for ways I’ll be sharing more client stories and heartfelt moments throughout the year!

Creativity and inspiration for the wedding season

Wedding photography is always evolving, and part of the joy for me lies in leaning into new trends and experimenting creatively.

Experimenting with film photography

Film photography holds a special place in my heart.  There’s a magic, a mystery, in knowing I have just one chance to compose and capture a moment.  This year, I want to challenge myself by attending a styled shoot and photographing it entirely on film.  There’s something thrilling about stepping out of my comfort zone like that — it’s where creativity sparks.

Wedding trends that excite me

The wedding trends popping up for 2025 have me buzzing with anticipation.  Some say bright, bold colors are in; others are leaning toward refined, elegant simplicity.  Whether it’s multiple outfit changes, immersive guest experiences, or digital invitations, one thing’s for sure — weddings are becoming more and more personalized.

And honestly?  That’s what excites me the most.  Trends are fun to watch, but what truly inspires me are couples who are unafraid to do things their way.

Heartfelt moments > posed photos

What’s inspiring me most about 2025 is the move toward authentic, candid photography.  Posed portraits will always have their place (your grandmother needs that photo for her fridge, after all!), but those quiet, unposed moments — the little smiles, the stolen glances, the emotional hugs—are where real magic happens.

Lighthearted goals (bunnies and unpacked boxes!)

Okay, not everything has to be about work, right?  On a lighter note, I’m also looking forward to plenty of cozy mornings, bunny cuddles, and finally (finally!) finishing unpacking the last of our moving boxes.  Here’s hoping that by the end of the year, our new house truly feels like a home.
